The 2017 Trophy Presentation Evening took place on Saturday 7th October with the seasons trophies being presented by Club President, Philip Hunt, ably assisted by Lady Captain, Enid Evans.

Open Weekend - Hugh Vaughan Mixed Cup

Day 3 saw 70 pairs take part in the Hugh Vaughan Cup - the format being Mixed Greensomes, 1/2 combined handicap. The 2017 winners were mother & son partnership, Dinah Bridger & Phil Bridger of Edwalton & Builth Wells respectively, with a fine score of net 60. The gross winners with an excellent 73 were Nigel & Julie Miles of Monmouthshire Golf Club.

Open Weekend - Jim Downs Cup/Manchester Trophy

Day 2 of the 2017 Open Weekend saw 168 competitors take part in the Jim Downs Cup (Men) and Manchester Trophy (Ladies). The format was 4 ball better ball stableford, 90% handicap allowance. Host club members, John Parker & Paul Parry walked away with the Jim Downs Cup scoring a superb 46 points. In the Manchester Trophy Lisa Hughes & Jayne Wynn were victorious with another superb score of 46 points.

Open Weekend - Cumberland Cup

48 teams of 4 took part on the first day of the 2017 Open Weekend. Scoring was excellent which was testament to the condition of the golf course.

Home Club members Paul Pearson, Antony Bridgeman, Jim Morgan & Andrew Claridge carried off the Cumberland Cup with an amazing score of 104 points, the highest score recorded in the competition.

The re arranged Seniors Pairs Open took place on Monday 17th July on a lovely summer's day - a massive difference to the original date when it was pouring down with rain!

This years winners with an excellent 46 points were home club pairing, Roger Booker & Allan Demery playing off 21 & 20 respectively. The next 5 places all scored 42 points with back nine, back three and final hole deciding the places. Results as follows:

Seniors Open Results

On a hot and humid July day the men's Seniors Open took place with 91 players taking part. Playing from the yellow tees scoring was difficult in the extreme heat. Home Club member Mel Hughes playing off a handicap of 15 scored a winning 40 points winning by 2 points from fellow home club member Peter Riley with 38 points. Results as follows:

Senior (Men's) Pairs Open

Following the cancellation of today's (Monday 5th June) Senior (Men's) Pairs Open due to the wonderful British weather, the Open event has been re arranged and will be played on Monday 17th July 2017.

Those players that were on the original start sheet will be contacted with the new date and will be offered the same starting times. Additional entries will be taken, please enter via the normal channels.

Club Captain's Swansong

Saturday 25th March saw Club Captain's, Sherrie Edwards & Chris Offa host their 'Swansong' competition. Sherrie & Chris have had a phenomenal year of Captaincy especially on the fund raising front. The 3 chosen charities for the year were Motor Neurone Disease Association, Wales Air Ambulance & Midlands Air Ambulance with a whopping £5234 being raised & split between the 3 of them. Sherrie & Chris will hand over the Captaincy to Enid Evans & Tom Davies, good luck to both Enid & Tom for the forthcoming year.
